Birthday Month & More

01 Feb

Time flies when you are having fun! Time sure is flying by and the calendar totally reflects it showing that it is now February. Well the fun will continue through the month, I have some fun things planned since it is my birthday month!

What’s a better way to celebrate a birthday than the whole month long?

For the month of February, I am going to feature some of my favorite things. Some of these may be products, things I like to do, favorite foods or favorite things to do. It will be a surprise and vary for the entire month.

One of my favorite things to do: BOARD GAMES

Not just any board game do I enjoy, but ones that have a good objective to the game.

Any How I Met Your Mother fans? Remember Lilly’s father who was a board game inventor? His games, however, were more to be desired. The game Diseases, which you win if you catch a disease is a little too off the wall for me!

Honestly, when board games are involved there are multiple memories involved. I recently had the honor of reviewing a new board game. You’ve Been Sentenced is a board game that is filled with laughter and goofy sentences! Even though I was sent this game for review, all opinions are honest and my own!

This game is best played with 3 or more people. Each person must pick 10 cards and then create a sentence with the words that were picked. Once one person has created a sentence then a timer is flipped over and the pressure is on for everyone else to beat the clock and create their own sentence! Creating a sentence is trickier than it sounds, once you have your sentence created, then you have to have to explain what your sentence means. This can be the tricky part! If everyone is able to make some sort of understanding from your sentence then you are awarded points. Each card has it’s own point value so all the sentences vary on point value. If your sentence does not make sense then you are not awarded any points. Even though a person draws 10 cards does not mean that they have to use all 10 for the sentence.

Looking pots… pots that have holes! HaHa. How you balance baby powder on them in a whole different story!

This game is geared towards adults and children and it honestly is fun for both age groups. It would be a great game for educators and children to build sentence structure. It’s fun for adults to especially when attempting to explain the sentence!

The game comes with 5 decks of cards needed to play the game. However, if desired you can also purchase add on decks to make things more interesting and it can provide more options for you. I honestly think that the add-on packs are essential to the game. It provides some more specific options for building your sentence. Depending on the deck that you use, some of the decks have more opportunities  to gain more points than the others. The Reader’s Digest pack for example has some elaborate words in it that I have not even heard of before! Some of the words have 20 points if the word is used!

Regardless of your ability to build sentences, it is entertaining to listen and debate the the sentences of others! Hands down lots of laughs.

Thank you so much. I learned that with this game I could form a hand of random words into a sensible sentence. Maybe, I’m challenged :). It would be fun to try though. We love having game night at our house, especially when friends come over and join in on the fun.
